not all interpretations are created equal...

simultaneous

Two linguists in a booth, their translation reaches the public with headphones. Interpreters work for 20-30 minutes each, in either direction (source to target and vice-versa).

👍    enables interaction, saves time. Ideal for conferences and long events.

👎    cost - at least two translators + the technical service (booth, mics + headphones).

consecutive

The speaker pauses every few minutes to let the interpreter translate into the target language for the audience.

👍   ideal for short assignments, only one interpreter is required.

👎   speech becomes twice as long; not suitable for projects that may last several hours.

whispered

When only one or two individuals need the interpreting service, the interpreter sits next to the client(s) and translates in a quiet voice what is being said.

👍  ideal for small meetings and negotiations.

👎  requires very good acoustic conditions and may not work well in large meetings/halls.
